In an effort to Make Better Happen, we have a critical leadership role available. As a Senior Accounting Manager you will manage efficient accounting activities to ensure accurate and timely results that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organization and integrity of the Company’s financial accounting records. This person will manage the accounts payable function, travel & entertainment reimbursement process, fixed asset accounting and month end close process for multiple companies including those transacting in CAD. The Sr. Accounting Manager will work closely with the Accounting Director and others in the organization to ensure business operations are accurately recorded and analyzed. This position, at times, deals with highly sensitive information and requires a high degree of confidentiality.


1.Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded and balance sheet reconciliations are completed.
2.Responsible for the timely consolidation of results within corporate reporting tool and ensures intercompany accounting and eliminations are properly reflected in the overall reporting.
3.Act as lead Company representative for the annual substantive audit, as well as local tax and regulatory audits.
4.Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
5.Coordinate banking and cash management operations with parent corporation treasury department.
6.Produce detailed reports to assist parent corporation tax department in the preparation of corporate tax returns.
7.Stays abreast of current accounting and regulatory pronouncements and carry out changes in both form and function of the accounting records to ensure full compliance.
8.Make recommendations for policy and procedure improvements to simplify and plan towards scalability. Establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud.
9.Account for short term incentive program.
10.Participate in the implementation or modification of Company computer systems to ensure appropriate financial integrity, controls and audit trails exist for transactions impacting the Company’s reported financial results.
11.Manage staff of approximately 12 persons responsible for all general accounting functions. (Accounting, Fixed Assets, accounts payable, tax/compliance, travel & entertainment).
12.Assist in company transformation to a platform for growth.
13.Assist in accounting and reporting related plans during times of mergers & acquisitions.
14.Provide ad-hoc analysis and support on projects, as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, CPA, CMA or MBA desired.

Experience: 10 plus years of progressive accounting experience including accounts payable management, general ledger and public company reporting background. Experience in a manufacturing environment desired. Experience with JD Edwards a plus. Strong skills in Excel and other MS Office applications.

Skills: In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and working knowledge of internal and external reporting standards required. Experience with international accounting principles including transfer pricing, translation and FX accounting. Experience with consolidations and eliminations in a multi-entity legal structure. Experience with server based general ledger systems with Oracle or JD Edwards and the associated sub-ledgers systems along with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products. Experience working directly with IT programming staff and strong understanding of underlying data table structures. High attention to detail. Strong oral and written communication skills required.

Management Skills: Strong analytic and leadership skills are required. The Sr. Accounting Manager should demonstrate the ability to build a team, mentor and progress team member skills; maintain a strong customer service culture within the department; work with a high degree of accuracy; be self-motivated, able to manage multiple demands and set priorities to achieve objectives and deadlines; good problem solving and the ability to complete projects independently. This position is hands-on and detail oriented.
